What Is Hawkins Institute?

Hawkins Institute was founded in 1995 by Gail Hawkins to offer a service that helps people with Asperger Syndrome (AS) and more able autism acquire vocational skills and find meaningful work.

Our job is to make our client's own mission possible. We currently enjoy a 92% success rate in finding meaningful employment for our clients and are often able to place an individual in about twelve weeks after the initial Foundation Building program. Since it opened, Hawkins Institute has helped hundreds of people with Asperger Syndrome reach their employment potential.

A few of the companies in which Hawkins Institute has placed clients include the Royal Bank, Bank of Montreal, HMV Music, Chapters Books Stores, Samtack Computer Corp., The Canadian Bar Association, ABS Friction, Harbourfront Centre, Compass Rose Travel, Young Barrington Accounting, and the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Hawkins Institute has been featured in Abilities Magazine, The Toronto Star, CBC's Moving On, and both the City TV and CBC Evening News.

Our clients are self referred, sent to us by professionals in the field of autism, or referred by various agencies including Ontario Disability Support Program, the Geneva Centre for Autism, and the Metro Toronto Autism Society.
