Workshops:
Workshops are two and a half hours in duration with a ten-minute stretch break.

Presentations:
Presentations are 60 minutes in length and are modified versions of the workshops.

(A) Top 10 Practical Tips To Prepare Children & Youth with ASD For Employment

It is never too early to prepare children with high functioning autism and AS for the journey of adulthood and work. In fact, the earlier the better! Gail Hawkins of Hawkins Institute has put together a list of the top 10 most common challenges her clients face when preparing for the workforce. Along with every challenge, Gail presents practical solutions you can implement immediately that will serve as invaluable tools in the future.


(B) Great you've got a job. Now the work begins!
(Strategies to maintain employment for people with AS)

Getting a job is one thing and keeping it is another. In this two-hour workshop we will discuss how to set the new employer and employee up for success. The workshop will cover:

  • How to educate the employer about AS
  • How to teach the employer ways to communicate effectively with an Asperger employee
  • How to build natural supports in the workplace
  • Tips on taking initiative, dealing with work related issues and working in a manner the employer finds productive

(C) Finding Work for People with High Functioning Autism and Asperger’s

Finding a job for someone with ASD is probably easier than finding a job for you! Discover how to find jobs for adults & youth with ASD in the hidden job market. Find out how ASD can actually open employer’s doors. Learn tested methods of job development and practice tricks of the trade, taught by a professional job developer who enjoys an over 92% success rate in finding work specifically for people with autism spectrum disorder.

(D) Resumes and Interview Techniques that Work for People with AS

Designed for people with Asperger Syndrome, high functioning autism and PDD, this workshop answers: How do you address that gap in your employment portfolio? When and how do you disclose that you have Asperger Syndrome? How do you best prepare for that important interview?

These questions and many more will be discussed in this exciting and interactive workshop by Gail Hawkins, president of Hawkins Institute Employment Services for People with Asperger Syndrome.

You will walk away from this workshop with:

  • The most effective way to construct your resume
  • An understanding of what you need to sell about yourself to potential employers
  • How and when to address your disability
  • Strategies to help you present yourself well

** This workshop may be modified for an audience of parents, teachers and other professionals.


Booking Details

Fees:

  • Workshop fees are $2,800 for a 2.5 hour workshop
  • Keynote presentation fees are $3,000 for 60 minutes or less
  • A $1,500 deposit is required to secure a booking. Deposits are not refunded for cancellations within four weeks of the workshop date. The balance of the fee is due on the day of the workshop. We have set our fees to be affordable to non-profit organizations however if our fees are not manageable, we are open to negotiation

Travel Expenses:

Outside the greater Toronto area, travel, accommodation and meals are to be covered by the hosting organization for the days on which the workshops are presented.
