Gail founded Hawkins Institute in 1995 help people with Asperger Syndrome (AS), and more able autism, realize their goals, achieve employment success and improve their overall quality of life.

Gail is also a contributing author to Children, Youth and Adults with Asperger Syndrome - Integrating Multiple Perspectives (Jessica Kingsley Publishers), and professional commentator on the DVD Asperger Syndrome and Employment - A Personal Guide to Succeeding at Work (Jessica Kingsley Publishers).

During her career, Gail has opened private businesses to serve as apprenticeship programs, developed curriculum for agencies expanding to ASD-specific services, trained vocational staff at state level (U.S.), and collaborated with countless service providers and agencies to develop unique programming for people on the Spectrum.

With more than 20 years’ experience, Gail has received global recognition for her specialized work within the field of Autism: her instructional book has been translated into Japanese and German, and her programs at Hawkins Institute are being modelled internationally.

Successfully transitioning from practitioner to content creator under the banner “Hawkins Online Institute”, Gail is currently producing her second video-based course – for professionals, family, and individuals on the spectrum – and has been awarded a grant to create a third series (to be released in early 2015). For these productions, Gail leverages the talent of people on the Spectrum, propelling her business philosophy: “We don’t just train… we employ!”
